FAQs

What is a Division Order?

A division order is an instrument that describes the property, the operator, the legal description, the owner’s remittance address and tax ID information, if known, as well as the owner’s decimal interest in the property.

What do I do with the Division Order?

The owner is asked to sign and return the division order. We use this information to remit royalty proceeds to the owner if Triangle has the disbursement responsibility.  If you have any questions about your division order, you should contact your attorney.

An owner should be sure to review the division order to include the following:

  • accurate legal description and ownership interest;
  • correct name spelling;
  • where the revenue checks should be sent if different than mailing address;
  • taxpayer identification number.

How is my owner interest calculated?

Your proportionate share of production, or ownership interest, is calculated by multiplying your net acres in the drilling unit by the royalty percentage agreed upon in your Oil and Gas Lease.
